Holi is incomplete without fun filled celebrations, and peppy song numbers and friends grooving together in tune. Infact this festival is so much color filled that even media could not avoid it. There are a number of songs in the famous movies featuring this colorful and vibrant festival.

India is considered as a land of colors. The various hues intrinsic to the diverse regions and cultures of India are often expressed in the daily lifestyle, rituals and clothing of the natives in those regions. Both literally as well as metaphorically, India is a land with varied colors. With diverse cultures and rituals, habits and languages, we have unity in diversity. Holi is much awaited by the Indians and this festival is celebrated with much joy and merry making throughout the country, especially in the Northern areas. The history of Holi goes back almost to the 7th century, which implies that Holi is one of the ancient festivals of India with a rich history added to it.

Holi is a celebration of colors and the day is filled with fun and frolic as because it is the only festival where even adults let go of their restraints and enjoy like kids. Smearing of color powders on each other, spraying watercolors from water guns or pichkaris, throwing water balloons at everybody is very much all the activities that we engage in and comes under the major rituals of Holi celebration.

Preparations for the Holi start in advance especially by the kids of every family. Buying tons of colors of varied shades and hues, buying the right water guns for each member, deciding on what clothes to wear and preparing oneself with oil and lotions just before starting out on the Holi day to be smeared by colors all the things which we involve in. Inspite all the fun and merry making, its falls under being a traditional festival, which is why the ethnic Indian clothes are always preferred, there are no restrictions of wearing only those. Feel free to wear whatever you are comfortable to ruin and get smashed with colors in.
